Counselling in Worthing

My counselling practice is grounded in a pluralistic approach, which means I tailor our work together to fit your unique needs, experiences and preferences. I recognise that everyone’s path to growth and healing is personal. There isn’t a single method that suits all. In a supportive and respectful space, my goal is to help you feel truly heard, understood and empowered.

I bring over 14 years of experience in the finance sector. I have specialised in supporting vulnerable customers facing financial difficulty, helping them build confidence and work toward financial stability. I bring a blend of empathy and practical insight to our sessions. This background allows me to understand the challenges people face both personally and professionally and to work alongside you in a way that celebrates your strengths, values and aspirations.

My approach combines evidence-based counselling techniques with complementary methods such as mindfulness. I also draw on coaching practices when appropriate, helping you develop resilience, clarity and actionable strategies tailored to your life. This flexible and collaborative process is designed to support you in building confidence and balance.

Above all, I am committed to walking alongside you with patience. Respecting your pace and choices as we explore the path toward healing, personal growth and achievement.

About Me

My journey into counselling didn’t start in a classroom, it began with a quiet curiosity about the mind, the heart and the human spirit. Years ago, I turned to meditation as a way to create stillness in a busy life. What I found was something deeper: a gentle unfolding that helped me understand myself, others and the value of being truly present. That path of self-discovery became the foundation of everything I do today.

For 14 years, I worked with people in financial difficulty, many of them facing not only practical struggles, but emotional pain, loss and shame. I often found myself sitting with people at their lowest point, offering not just guidance, but a calm, steady presence. Over time, I realised I wanted to do more than help in the moment. I wanted to walk alongside people as they made sense of their lives, healed old wounds and found their own way forward. That’s what led me to counselling.

FAQs

What is Counselling?

Counselling is a talking therapy that helps people explore and understand their thoughts, feelings and behaviours in a safe, confidential space. It is often focused on specific issues such as stress, anxiety, grief, relationship difficulties, or life transitions. Counsellors offer support and guidance, helping clients gain insight and find their own solutions. Counselling is usually short to medium term and tends to focus on the present and immediate concerns.

What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy also involves talking and building a therapeutic relationship, but it typically goes deeper. It helps individuals understand patterns rooted in past experiences that may be affecting their current behaviour, relationships, or mental health. Psychotherapy can be longer term and may explore unconscious processes, childhood experiences and deeper emotional struggles. It aims to relieve symptoms and to bring about long-lasting personal growth and change.

What’s the Difference Between Counselling and Psychotherapy?

While both offer safe, supportive environments for emotional healing, the main differences are in depth, focus and duration:

  • Counselling tends to be shorter-term, solution-focused and often addresses specific issues.
  • Psychotherapy is usually longer-term and focuses on exploring underlying emotional issues, past experiences and long-standing patterns

In practice, the two often overlap and many professionals are trained in both. The right approach depends on the individual's needs, goals and preferences.
