Counselling that’s easy to access, in Worthing or online

About Me

My journey into counselling didn’t start in a classroom, it began with a quiet curiosity about the mind, the heart and the human spirit. Years ago, I turned to meditation as a way to create stillness in a busy life. What I found was something deeper: a gentle unfolding that helped me understand myself, others and the value of being truly present. That path of self-discovery became the foundation of everything I do today.

For 14 years, I worked with people in financial difficulty, many of them facing not only practical struggles, but emotional pain, loss and shame. I often found myself sitting with people at their lowest point, offering not just guidance, but a calm, steady presence. Over time, I realised I wanted to do more than help in the moment. I wanted to walk alongside people as they made sense of their lives, healed old wounds and found their own way forward. That’s what led me to counselling.

I’m someone who is deeply committed to growth, spiritually, personally, and academically. I’ve spent years studying, reflecting and training so that I can confidently apply what I’ve learned in a way that’s not just informed, but also human. This balance of inner development and professional training gives me the best chance of being truly useful to the people I work with.

I hold a Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling Practice and I’m an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). My background also includes hypnotherapy, coaching, and a science-based BSc that brings a well-rounded understanding of the body and mind into my work. I continue to learn and evolve through specialist training, mindfulness-based approaches and therapeutic work around grief, loss & trauma.

But more than qualifications, I bring heart. I offer a space where you can be yourself, without pressure, without judgement.

If you're looking for someone who brings both empathy and experience, I’m here to support you, calmly, openly, and with care.

My Professional Network

No one should face life’s challenges alone. Sometimes the best support I can offer is to connect you with someone I know and trust.

One of those people is Andrew Graham, CEO of Tempset Therapies and Operational Manager of Rainbow Baby Scans. Andrew is a practising hypnotherapist who helps with stress, anxiety, difficult habits, confidence building, and hypno-birthing. At Rainbow Babies, he also supports new parents with baby scanning services, creating treasured memories of pregnancy.

What sets Andrew apart is his warmth, honesty, and courage. He meets people without judgement, acknowledges life’s messiness, and helps them find a way forward with both compassion and grit. It’s why I trust him completely.

Specialised Experience in Grief Counselling

During my 100-hour clinical placement at a local hospice, I gained hands-on experience supporting individuals through intense and overwhelming emotions linked to loss. I provided face-to-face, online, and telephone support to those processing grief related to the death of a loved one, as well as complex losses such as divorce, health changes, and major life transitions.

Grief is not just about loss—it involves deep and often disruptive emotions. These emotions echo many of the feelings people experience in counselling, such as:

  • Anticipatory Grief: The fear and anxiety of what’s to come, often intensifying existing worries or depression, as clients anticipate an impending loss.
  • Complicated Grief: When grief feels unmanageable or unresolved, it can lead to anxiety, hopelessness, and difficulty moving forward—common themes for clients dealing with unresolved trauma or emotional blockages.
  • Emotional and Behavioural Responses: Grief can amplify emotions like anger, guilt, and sadness, overlapping with stress, low self-esteem, or self-criticism.
  • Adjustment and Resilience: After loss, individuals may struggle to find meaning or re-establish balance, a journey that mirrors personal growth and rebuilding in therapy.
  • Traumatic Grief: Sudden, violent, or unexpected loss can overwhelm emotional stability, triggering trauma responses such as anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress—often seen in clients processing past trauma.

This experience deepened my understanding of how loss affects emotional state, sense of self, relationships, and daily functioning. The intensity of grief often mirrors the challenges people face in therapy—like anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or trauma. Through grief counselling, I’ve developed the skills to help clients navigate both the pain of loss and the underlying emotions that often bring them to therapy.
